Benefits of Polycytidylic Acid
It is used for treating chronic hepatitis B, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, Japanese encephalitis, viral keratitis, herpes zoster, various warts and respiratory infections, etc.
Polyinosinic acid: Polycytidylic acid (usually abbreviated as poly I: C) is a type of immunostimulant. It is used to imitate viral infections in the form of sodium salt.
Poly I: C interacts with Toll - like receptor 3 (TLR3), which is expressed on the membranes of B - cells, macrophages and dendritic cells. Poly I: C has a similar structure to double - stranded RNA. It exists in certain viruses and is a "natural" stimulator of TLR3. Therefore, Poly I: C can be regarded as a synthetic equivalent of double - stranded RNA and a commonly used tool in the scientific research of the immune system.
